Huguenot Mill Wedding Photographer & Videographer
The Knot Best of Weddings 2024 & 2026 · Five-star rated on The Knot and WeddingWire
Exposed brick, hardwood floors, big mill windows and a view of the Reedy River. The Huguenot Mill is one of our favorite places to photograph a wedding in downtown Greenville. Here's what to know about the venue, where the best photos happen, and how our team plans a Huguenot Mill wedding day.
About Huguenot Mill for Weddings
Built in 1882 as a textile mill, the Huguenot Mill is one of Greenville's oldest buildings. Today it's part of the Peace Center campus at 101 West Broad Street, in the heart of downtown Greenville.
Most weddings here happen in the Huguenot Loft upstairs, an 8,400 square foot open room with original wood plank floors, a beamed ceiling, exposed brick and original mill windows that look out over the Reedy River. The venue lists the Loft at up to 400 guests standing or 300 seated, depending on your layout.
On the main floor, the Ramsaur Studio is a smaller room with exposed brick and lounge furniture that works well for a cocktail hour, and the Freeman Conference Room, with its sliding glass wall, can be set up as a bridal suite.

Good to know before you book
Ceremony and reception in one place: you can hold both in the Loft. The venue can add an hour to your event time to make room for the ceremony.
A coordinator is required: the Peace Center asks for a wedding coordinator on site for your whole rental.
Food and drinks: catering comes from the Peace Center's approved list, and the Peace Center handles all beverages.
Parking: guests park in nearby downtown garages, and the venue notes lodging just across the footbridge.
Best Photo Spots at Huguenot Mill
The Loft windows
The original mill windows bring natural light into the Loft. They're a great spot for portraits of the two of you, family photos before guests arrive, and detail photos of your finished tables.
Exposed brick and timber
The brick walls and old wood beams make a warm, textured backdrop that looks beautiful in both color and black and white. We photographed Madison and Derek in the reception hall with all of that brick and wood behind them.
The Huguenot Mill sign
The sign outside is a simple, classic portrait spot that shows exactly where you got married.
Downtown and the Reedy River
The Loft overlooks the Reedy River, and downtown Greenville is right outside the door. If your timeline allows, a short walk outside for portraits gives you a completely different look from your indoor photos. We'll plan the route with you ahead of time.
The dance floor
With a beamed ceiling and a big open room, first dance and party photos have plenty of space and atmosphere.

Timing and light
Golden hour: the warmest outdoor light comes in the hour before sunset. In late spring and summer, sunset in Greenville usually comes after 8 p.m., so golden hour often falls during the reception. Plan on 15 to 20 minutes to step outside with us.
Window light: for indoor portraits, we like to use the Loft windows before guests come in, while the room is quiet.
The finished room: leave a few minutes after setup and before guests arrive for photos of the room and your details. Couples love those wide shots of the finished Loft later.
A Real Huguenot Mill Wedding: Madison & Derek
Madison and Derek were married on May 24, 2025, with a ceremony at Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Simpsonville and a reception at the Huguenot Mill. We photographed their invitation suite and rings, the church ceremony, portraits by the Huguenot Mill sign, a kiss under Madison's veil, and their first dance under the Loft's high ceiling. It's one of our favorite Greenville weddings.

Planning Your Photos and Film at Huguenot Mill
Build your timeline around the rental window
A standard Loft rental includes setup, up to 4 hours for your event, and teardown. Event time can usually be extended by an hour, and the full rental window can run up to 12 hours. Our packages include 8 hours of coverage, so early in planning we'll map getting ready, your ceremony, portraits and the reception against the venue's hours.
Plan your send-off with the venue rules in mind
The venue doesn't allow sparklers or tossed items like confetti or rice. Bubbles, glow sticks, ribbon wands and pennant flags are allowed, and bubbles and glow sticks both look great in photos. Tell us which you choose so we can be in position for it.
Lighting the first dance
Fog, smoke and bubble machines aren't allowed inside, and candles need to be in glass. Glass votives and hurricanes add a warm glow to reception photos.
Use the bridal suite
If you get ready in the Freeman Conference Room, there's no drive between getting ready and the ceremony, which frees up more time for portraits.
Photo and video as one team
When you book both, your photographer and videographer share one timeline, so you aren't posing twice or working around two separate crews.
Your Greenville Photo and Video Team
Our lead Greenville photographer, Meg, and videographer, Joe, live in the Upstate and know downtown Greenville well. Every team member works by our signature creative process, The Stories and Stills Way, so your day is covered with the same care from start to finish.
Robb edits every photo personally, and our in-house team edits every film. You'll have one point of contact and your own client portal from your first message to your final gallery.
Our team members live throughout the Southeast and beyond, so we never charge travel fees.

Huguenot Mill Wedding FAQ
Can we have our ceremony and reception at Huguenot Mill?
Yes. You can hold both in the Huguenot Loft. The venue can add an hour to your event time for the ceremony and suggests planning at least 30 minutes for guests to arrive. Many couples also marry at a church and come to the Mill for the reception, like Madison and Derek did.
How many guests does the Huguenot Loft hold?
The venue lists the Loft at up to 400 guests standing or 300 seated. Your real number depends on your layout, dance floor and whether the ceremony is on site. For bigger weddings, we usually suggest adding a second photographer.
Where are the best photo spots at Huguenot Mill?
The Loft's mill windows, the exposed brick and timber, and the Huguenot Mill sign outside are our favorite spots on site. If your timeline allows, a short walk outside adds downtown and river views.
Is there a place to get ready at Huguenot Mill?
The venue offers the Freeman Conference Room, with its sliding glass wall, as a bridal suite. Ask your Peace Center representative about adding it to your rental.
Are sparklers allowed for a Huguenot Mill send-off?
No. Sparklers and tossed items like confetti or rice aren't allowed. Bubbles, glow sticks, ribbon wands and pennant flags are, and we'll plan your send-off photos around whichever you choose.
Do you charge travel fees for Huguenot Mill weddings?
No. Our team members live throughout the Southeast and beyond, so we never charge travel fees.
Can we book both photography and videography for our Huguenot Mill wedding?
Yes. You can book photo, video or both. With both, your photographer and videographer work as one team on one timeline, and The Essential Bundle is our most popular choice.
